ITDP Internships

Overview

  • Designed to give students the opportunity to learn about new and emerging technologies in industry
  • Students will not only learn the latest and most widely used tools and apply them to a project that Sabree Software Services (S3) will assign to them
  • They will also learn and be expected to apply various methodologies and processes actively utilized in the IT/Software Development services industry
  • Allow students to earn course credit
  • 8 Students will be selected to participate
    • 4 Sophomores
    • 4 Juniors
  • Selected students will work in teams of 4 (2 sophomores and 2 juniors) to replicate the iterative and collaborative aspect of industry development teams
  • Each group will focus on each of the following applying these skills to an assigned development effort
    • DevOps (CI/CD Pipelines)
    • Front-end development
    • Back-end development
    • Data engineering
  • Each team member will receive hands-on exposure to every aspect of full lifecycle development as applied to a practical project
  • Duration: Spans 2 semesters (Fall 2023 – Spring 2024)
  • Students will receive course credit for each semester

Participant Expectations

Students will be expected to:

  • Participate in weekly SCRUM meetings throughout the duration of the internship (both semesters)
  • 1st semester students will…
    • Learn about the technology stack they will be utilizing
    • Be evaluated on their progression by completing miniature projects that show proof of their gained understanding and knowledge
    • Be evaluated on in-class participation.
  • 2nd semester students will…
    • Work on a key project using the technologies learned in the first semester
    • Test the product on multiple occasions to make sure all functionality has been implemented and works as expected
    • Be graded against their completion/delivery of project features as defined on the project timeline/roadmap
    • Be graded based on their individual contributions to the project

Eligibility Guidelines

  • Must be a computer science, computer engineering, or any IT related major
  • Must be a sophomore or junior by start of the Fall 2023 semester (start of the internship)
  • Possess a minimum 2.5 GPA (3.0 in Major)

  • Applications will be accepted beginning March 25, 2023 (12:00 AM)

  • Announcement of selected students will be made on Jun 1, 2023
